sun rise, sun set,
a cycle begins, never forgets.
i am stood upon a precipice, overlooking an uncaring abyss.
cold salt-spray rends skin, corrodes bone, chills me to my core and half-blinds me.
a foot grazes cliff's edge, soft rumble and crackling tectonics shifting just below.
tired eyes see lifetimes, and barely anything at all.
far beyond their gaze, a horizon looms indifferent, a grandiose spectacle that precedes true oblivion.
a step back, then two, gravel-sand and pebbles underfoot, as the one who bears no name looks onward into the impossible distance before them.
has their journey concluded, or only just begun?
crashing tides like crushed metal, scraping, grating noise, inescapable, all-encompassing.
they scream, a ragged, shrill tone into the sea. it returns it tenfold.
sun rise, sun set.
postscript: another manually-transcribed phone piece, yay! (I really should find an easier way to get these onto the archive)
