Black, then white, then black again.

Cogs spin and whirl as time tick-tick-ticks away, seconds into minutes into hours into days, into the far far beyond that none have truly witnessed.

I stand at odds in the middle of a corridor of figures, some faces I recognize, some I do not.

I look behind me, and the silhouettes extend into infinity. I look ahead, the same.

The faces bear no expression, hold no feeling or emotion, blankly staring at me with thousands upon thousands of yard stares.

I look to the sky, and none greets me.

I look to the ground, and it disappears underneath me.

I am freefalling in this glassy black abyss of which there is no escape. I feel the wind whipping past me, stinging my eyes and tangling my hair as I plunge deeper, yet deeper into this bottomless pit.

Then, as abruptly as it began, it ceased.

I close my eyes, just for a moment. When I open them, I am stood before a door.

A blindingly bright, white door, standing defiantly in this emptiness I awoke to. It radiates a subtle warmth, and I faintly hear the sound of leaves rustling in the wind as I approach it.

I am inches away from it now. A low hum emanates from behind me, growing louder and louder as I stare into the light. I look behind me, and two piercing red eyes meet my gaze. The hum has grown into a buzz, as the beast approaches faster.

I turn back to the door, and take a leap of faith.

Black, then white, then...
