i remember
cold winter mornings
sun barely risen
beige linoleum tiles
but not your face

i remember
having shorter hair
and a quicker temper
a lisp and a stutter
but not your eyes

i remember
you were sat there
against a closed door
lost deeply in thought
i wish i knew more

i remember
a bright crimson raincoat
silvery hair
fading blue dye
but not your voice

i remember
sitting next to you
your head on my shoulder
cold as black slate
wishing i was warmer

i remember
regretting everything
i didn’t do
saving those memories
but forgetting you
